Primary Responsibilities • End user support of Linux, Mac and Windows workstations. • Installation and configuration of complex scientific software packages.• Proactively monitor, analyze, and correct system issues. • Maintaining system backups. • Resolving system security issues – including patching, risk analysis and security plans.• Assist with monitoring and management of storage systems.• Linux and Windows server administration. • End user support in tracking and resolving issues via ticketing system.• Develop and maintain system documentation. Basic Qualifications • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.• Advanced system administration experience with exposure to Linux, Mac & Windows.• Scripting and command line experience • Experience performing system backups. • Self directed – proven ability to work, and satisfy customer needs, with minimal day to day direction.• Ability to work well in a team environment and also independently.• Ability and willingness to communicate tasks and concepts to others.• Strong communication and customer relations skills. • Good documentation skills. • Understanding of IT security best practices. • Understanding of storage systems including SAN, NAS and concepts like RAID, NFS and LUNs• Understanding of basic networking concepts. • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of prior relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications • Existing Public Trust clearance • NASA experience • Support of research computing operations environment • Enterprise Virtualizations such as VMware ESXi / vCenter • Hybrid cloud implementation and cloud migration • Kubernetes implementation & security configuration Ansible playbook development in a collaborative environment using Git or Gitlab repos Red Hat Certifications: (e.g., Red Hat Certified System Administrator - RHCSA, Red Hat Certified Engineer - RHCE):Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) CompTIA Security+ Server+ Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator AWS Certifications: (e.g., Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator) Microsoft Azure Certifications: (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, DevOps Engineer Expert)Clearance NASA Public Trust Desired Certifications / Training: None are required, the following are examples of some that would be highly regarded:Potential for Telework: Some Telework is permitted but will have a significant onsite presence at NASA Langley Research Center.
