Reporting to theDirector Platform EngineeringtheSystems Engineering Managerwill manage a dynamic team of systems engineers responsible for the Design Analysis Integration Verification Validation and Operations support of spacecrafts within Terran Orbitals Portfolio. This role is responsible for a coherent set of spacecraft products and systems engineering functions that support programs and projects. The Systems Engineering Manager will apply their technical and leadership skills in organizing leading and guiding execution of systems engineering principals within their responsible programs set. The Systems Engineering Manager will share their technical expertise and leadership in mentoring training and leading technical system designs and architectures while managing team efficacy and execution to meet the business needs.RequirementsLead direct review and coach the work of engineering professional direct reports to accomplish program project and departmental responsibilitiesResponsible for team members resource planning and forecasting skillset identification engineering tool implementation as well as product/process standardization for program level support in systems architecture design integration Verification and Validation Launch and OperationsLeads and establishes goals objectives and training for the team with direct impact on both short-term and long-term operations resultsEnsures knowledge capture and knowledge transfer by working with and mentoring engineering membersExecutes strategies and roadmap items for systems architecture and program level developmentsPropose and execute process improvements to maximize efficiency quality and technical fidelity of engineering products to support interoperability and flexible state-of-the-art architecturesMaintain outstanding communication both with both upper management and the employees in the departmentContributes directly to or oversees staff working on new Program proposals designs and resource estimatesBolster the team as an individual contributor as neededThe Systems Engineering Managers team has responsibilities including:Designing and developing optimal space vehicle architectures and detailed mission solutions to complex space domain challenges for various remote sensing RF and optical applicationsMission Concept of Operations refinement mapping and applicationRequirements generation derivation decomposition and mappingSystem Definition Baseline configuration management and controlLogical and Physical Architecture definitions and interface managementSystem-level design activities to include State-Machines Orbital dynamics and Communication architectureSystem Integration Verification and Validation definition and executionQualifications and SkillsBachelors or Masters degree in Engineering or the Physical Sciences12 years of spacecraft systems engineering experience5 years of experience as a technical leader for space-domain missions3 years of experience leading/managing/tracking projects proposals processes and employees working within a systems engineering disciplineDemonstrate a proven track record of applying successful expertise to sophisticated system challengesExperience leading complex initiatives with a proven track record of collaboration and coordination across internal and external stakeholder organizationsExperience with Risk Issue and Opportunity managementUnderstanding of how concepts of PPT (people processes & tools) systems and leadership interact to achieve team and company goalsProven ability to deliver effective communication verbally written form and through well-crafted presentations across all levels of an organization including executive leadershipAttention to technical details and meeting program delivery schedulesAbility to self-govern with minimal supervision establish workload priorities and utilize efficient time management practices to achieve programmatic or strategic initiativesU.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security ClearanceAdditional DifferentiatorsExperience and success with space-based reliability availability maintainability and safetyFamiliarity with satellite system budgets including mass power delta-V link and data budgetsExperience and success with encrypted communications architectures and devices and data productsDemonstrated experience and success with Optical or RF systemsBenefits100% Company-paid comprehensive medical dental and vision coverage for you and your dependents401(k) MatchFlexible Time Off (FTO)Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification knowledge skills education and addition to base salary we offer 100% covered medical dental and vision coverage a 401(k) match Flexible Time Off (FTO) covered life insurance maternity and paternity leave tuition reimbursement employee referrals and lots of swag!About Terran OrbitalTerran Orbital is a leading manufacturer of satellite products primarily serving the aerospace and defense industries.
