Job DescriptionJob DescriptionTitle:Classroom HS/EHS Float / CCC Aide- (Head Start, Early Head Start, and SENDCAA Child Care)Reports to:Central Education Coordinator / Child Care Assistant TeacherSchedule: Follows Classroom HS/EHS Float /CCC Aide Calendar9:30-3:00, Monday-Thursday at Head Start and Fridays at Early Head Start 3:00-5:30 Monday – Friday at the Child Care. (12 months) Possible subbing at Early Head Start June and July. Work only for Child Care during non-Head Start days and summer breaks. Extra work opportunities in the child care during the summer could be available. Benefits: Generous 403(b) company contribution with no match necessary after 90 days of employment. Increases after 3 years of employment.Health insurance, dental and vision (eligible almost immediately-1st of the following month).Paid time offSick TimeHoliday Pay (8 paid Holidays).Professional development assistance5% Pay increase after 90 days based on performance evaluationPurpose of Position:To assist with providing extra support for children in the Head Start Birth to Five classrooms. Child Care Aide in the Child Care classroom.Below are the essential duties of this position. Other duties may be assigned, as needed.May be relocated within the SENDCAA Head Start, Early Head Start or the Child Care sites to best fit programs needs.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:ProgramEducation staff are trained as mandated reporters and will report any observations of concern to Cass County Social ServicesResponsible for following all Head Start and SENDCAA program policies and procedures including Standards of Conduct and Confidentiality.Participates in relevant training, including staff meetings, site meetings, and reflective supervisionEducationMaintain working knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and the Early Learning Outcomes Framework (Head Start)Ability to take on tasks such as leading small group activities, reading aloud, transitioning children from one activity to another, and leading large groups at the supervisor’s requestBecome familiar with and implement a child’s Behavior Support Plan appropriatelyAssist classroom staff by supervising children in the classroom/bathroomAssists in educational and enrichment activities such as reading, painting, imaginary play, etc.Assist in preparing students for nap timeProvide coverage when teachers are away from the classroom such as preparation time or time offActively engages with children by sitting on the floor playing with them, engages in conversation with them, and actively works to build a relationship with each child while maintaining awareness of classroom needsBecome aware of Conscious Discipline skills and use them to fidelity in the classroomsClassroom OrganizationAssists in the upkeep and maintenance of the classroom equipment, materials, and suppliesAssists in maintaining a clean and safe classroom by following policies & proceduresResponsible for daily cleaning including wiping down surfaces, sweeping, disinfecting toys/areas, etc.Assist Teacher and Teacher Assistant in day-to-day classroom planning, preparation, and activitiesRespect each family’s cultural, ethnic, and linguistic diversityMay be asked to attend home visits when other staff may not be available (Head Start)Health and SafetyModels/Guides good health practices, such as tooth brushing (Head Start) and hand washing, ensuring they are followed Assists in implementing family-style meals in a pleasant environment including conversation & socialization. See Mealtime procedure for further instructionHelps ensure no child will be left alone or unsupervised at any timeOther Duties:Performs other duties as assigned or requestedTravel to other sites to cover other classroomsAttends meetings and training sessions as requestedEducation/Training Required:• Experience with working with childrenHigh School Diploma• CPR and First Aid certification to be completed within 3 months of hire and every other year.• Mandated Reporter Training annually• Requires a minimum of 9 hours of training in early childhood development annually. (Child Care)• Physical activity approved training within three months of hire and annually. (Child Care)• Child Care Aware ND Getting Started, on-line basic childcare course registered through Growing Futures, ND, within three months of hire (Child Care)Education/Training Preferred:Associate Degree or higher in Early Childhood EducationChild Development Associate credentialEnrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degreeEnrolled in the CDA Credential program to be completed within one year of hireMinimum Experience and Skills Required:To perform the duties of this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
