Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with school-aged students who are visually impaired
  • Flexibility to work in an itinerant position, traveling to multiple school sites
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with educational teams, families, and related service providers
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized instructional strategies and accommodations
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and Braille literacy is highly valued

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments across locations within the county
  • Assess student needs, adapt curriculum materials, and develop individualized educational plans
  • Consult and train staff and families on strategies and accommodations for accessing the educational environment
  • Maintain thorough documentation of student goals, progress, and services
  • Utilize a variety of technologies and materials to support students' learning experiences
