The program has students in Clinical Mental Health School Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy tracks. The Teaching Assistant Professor focuses on designing and facilitating online and practicum/internship instruction and ensures quality delivery of instruction and supervision. The candidate serves as a mentor and advisor to graduate students. The candidate is also responsible for engagement and appropriate service including collaboration with colleagues to serve on program department and university committees.Key Job Responsibilities:Contributes to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the work unitAdvises students on academic and career direction within a specific field of studyFacilitates classroom online and/or laboratory instruction including assessment of student performanceMay supervise student employees involved in development or delivery of instructionCollaborates with department faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the disciplineDevelops and designs curriculum and instructional material relevant to a course of instructionContributes to the development of teaching and learning scholarly work including publications and presentationsDepartment: Department of Counselor EducationFull-Time: 100% Instructional Academic Staff Ongoing Academic (9 month) appointment one VacancyThis position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement encompassing both on-campus and remote responsibilities (instruction will be 100% online some in-person office hours and in-person department and committee meetings will be required). Applicants must reside in either Wisconsin or Minnesota at the time of hire to be considered.Job Responsibilities: UWS Standard Job Description Duties:Develops and designs curriculum and instructional material relevant to a course of instruction.Advises students on academic and career direction within a specific field of study.Facilitates online and/or laboratory instruction including assessment of student performance.May supervise student employees involved in development or delivery of instruction.Collaborates with department faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the discipline.Contributes to the development of teaching and learning scholarly work including publications and presentations.Contributes to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the work unit.Additional Duties Specific to Position:Full responsibility for teaching 12 credits per semester of graduate level courses in the Counseling Program (Clinical Mental Health; Marriage Couples and Family; & School Counseling tracks). Predominately online accelerated seven-week terms (2 courses per term).Advise graduate counseling students.Provide an on-campus presence to meet with and to serve students and to work with colleagues in the department and across campus to fulfill service roles.Support counseling program in development and execution of in-person and online counseling courses program evaluation and accreditation/licensing processes.Provide supervision to students at practicum and internship site placements.Establish and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with student site placements and site supervisors.Serve on university committees.Develop and maintain visibility in the state region and nation through participation and involvement in professional organizations/conferences and other scholarly activities.Advise student organization.Provide service to the department.Perform other departmental duties as assigned by the department chair.Other Duties: Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned.Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications: Masters degree in counseling or closely related field.Experience providing direct services with clients as a professional counselor or school counselor within the last three years.Licensed or license eligible as either a school counselor professional counselor or Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) in the state of WI and a commitment to maintaining professional licensure.At least one year of higher education teaching experience.This position is currently ineligible for H1-B sponsorship. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.Desirable Qualifications:At least one year of graduate level teaching experience within the last five years.University level online synchronous and asynchronous teaching experience within the last five years.Demonstrated experience and commitment to continued professional development in best practices in teaching and learning within the last five years.Compensation: Salary range for this position is: $53000 - $58000 annually.
