We are seeking applicants who share this commitment. This is a full-time academic year (9 month) in-person teaching academic staff position. The successful candidate for this position will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in special education that prepare candidates to support students with a wide range of disabilities across educational settings. In addition the position may include: (a) course development and instruction in the following areas: introduction to special education assessment curriculum and methodology in teaching students with disabilities transition planning and working with teams and families with individuals with disabilities (b) developing and maintaining collaborative and productive working relationships with local school systems (c) advising mentoring professional development and department service activities and (d) student teaching supervision.Key Job Responsibilities:May supervise student employees involved in development or delivery of instructionFacilitates classroom online and/or laboratory instruction including assessment of student performanceAdvises students on academic and career direction within a specific field of studyContributes to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the work unitContributes to the development of teaching and learning scholarly work including publications and presentationsDevelops and designs curriculum and instructional material relevant to a course of instructionCollaborates with department faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the disciplineDepartment:School of EducationCompensation:Salary commensurate with education and experienceRequired Qualifications:Earned masters degree in special education or closely related field.Previously or currently licensed special education teacherMinimum of three to five (3-5) years of full-time PK-12 teaching experience including significant experience in special education.A demonstrated commitment to build relationships with students and colleagues.High-quality communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations.Clearly articulated scholarly and/or professional development agenda and record consistent with rank at the time of hire.Ability to work well in a faculty team setting.Preferred Qualifications:Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) or ABD candidate in special education or closely related field.Willingness to travel regionally (eligible to obtain a valid WI drivers license).Experience mentoring coaching and providing feedback to student/intern pre-service teachers or in-service teachers.Experience in collaborative and/or inclusionary settings.Experience with college level instruction.Terms of Employment:This is fixed-term exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act 9-month Instructional Academic Staff position.Please note that successful applicants are responsible for ensuring their eligibility to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the United States a lawful permanent resident a foreign national authorized to work in the United States without the need of employer sponsorship) on or before the effective date of -Stevens Point does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position.How to Apply:TO ENSURE CONSIDERATION: Applications received by 1/11/2026 are ensured full consideration.
