Our mission exists to build relationships with our neighbors and share hope in brokenness. We target neighborhoods that are underserved. We have a staff size of about 80 where we have after school programs, sports performance center, houses for women in sex trafficking, men and women transitional homes, two coffee shops, screen printing, and other forms of ministry to love our neighbors.Job Summary:We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Assistant Trainer to assist in leading hands-on culinary instruction in our Teaching Kitchen. The Assistant Trainer will assist in educating individuals or groups on food preparation, kitchen safety, nutrition, and healthy cooking techniques. This role is ideal for someone passionate about food, wellness, and education, and who excels at engaging diverse audiences in an interactive, supportive learning environment.Key Responsibilities:Assist in designing and delivering engaging cooking classes, demonstrations, and classes for participants of varying skill levels.Teach safe food handling, proper knife skills, and basic to advanced cooking techniques.Incorporate nutrition education and healthy eating principles into culinary lessons.Adapt instructional style to meet the needs of different populations (children and adults).Assist in the development of lesson plans, recipes, and educational materials.Monitor and ensure proper use of kitchen tools and appliances.Support participants in hands-on cooking, providing guidance and encouragement.Manage class logistics, including prep, setup, cleanup, and inventory tracking.Collaborate with Teaching Kitchen Trainer and community partners.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen learning environment.Collect feedback and evaluate participant progress to continuously improve programming.Qualifications:Proven experience as a culinary instructor, chef, dietitian, or related field.Culinary degree or certification preferred, but not required with relevant experience.Strong knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and health-supportive cooking techniques.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Comfortable teaching diverse audiences in group settings.Ability to multitask, adapt, and stay organized in a dynamic environment.CPR and Food Handler certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).Bilingual skills are a plus.
