JOB DESCRIPTION
Team Lead
The Team Lead is responsible for the timely, efficient, and accurate processing of products in the lab. A Team Lead is a working lead who is cross-trained to conduct a wide variety of tasks and may oversee the day-to-day activities within their team for a specific area, as well as be expected to perform work in additional essential function(s) as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Manage day-to-day coordination of a specific lab function or area
- May delegate tasks and assign duties to employees
- Evaluate employees within department utilizing a skills assessment checklist and provide feedback to management
- Partner with management to determine department standards, operational procedures, and metrics to drive performance excellence
- Review data from performance reports, determine accuracy of reports and efficiency and productivity of employees
- Provide recommendations for immediate process or performance corrections based on reports; Partner with management to implement the necessary adjustments
- Plan and schedule regular rotation of all employees through the various key process responsibilities
- Analyze and share daily production stats with employees
- Review and recommend department processes to ensure maximum level of productivity and cost efficiencies
- Identify potential trends in performance gaps and recommend modifications to the standardized work documents by using process improvement principles
- Report all known product, process, and or reporting defects and inefficiencies to supervisory personnel
- Participate in team, department, and company-wide meetings as schedule; Actively participate in team discussions and provide feedback to maintain and improve the work environment
- Provide information regarding work activities, department activities and programs and company updates; Promote industry information within the team and organization
- Ensure that employees follow documented and standardized work procedures
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to improve and develop the performance of employees
- Ensure the work area is clean and organized and prepared for the next shift with all items in their designated locations
- Redirect employees to management and notify management regarding any employee relations or performance management issues, safety issues and incidents employee personal concerns, and all employee complaints; May be asked to provide input on discipline, performance reviews, payroll, attendance, etc.
- Ensure all employees are trained and comply with related policies and procedures for both the department and the company
- Utilize proper handling techniques and equipment to minimize damages and reduce injuries
- Follow and uphold all OSHA and company safety guidelines, policies, and regulations
- Ability to work overtime as business needs dictate
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to follow procedure and contribute as an individual and a team member
- Computer literate
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two (2) years and six (6) months of optical manufacturing experience (unless business needs dictate otherwise)
- Excellent oral and written communication
Desired Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year of experience leading or training employees
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds (safety/weight belt provided, if requested). Specific vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus is required.
Work Environment:
The work environment is a climate-controlled warehouse with moderate noise.
Travel:
Travel for this position would be minimal if at all.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $21.50 + $2.00 shift differential. Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan.
