Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Technical Business Analyst (BA) with a strong accounting background to support our Finance and Accounting teams. This role bridges business processes and technology—ensuring our financial systems operate efficiently, requirements are clearly defined, and data-driven insights are delivered through strong SQL and reporting skills (Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire, etc.).The ideal candidate understands core accounting practices, thrives in a collaborative environment, and proactively drives process improvement across financial workflows.Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness & Systems AnalysisServe as the primary liaison between Finance/Accounting teams and IT.Gather, document, and translate business requirements into functional specifications for system enhancements or new solutions.Analyze existing financial processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.Support finance system configurations, testing, upgrades, and integrations.Financial Systems SupportTroubleshoot issues across accounting and finance applications (ERP, reporting tools, reconciliations, etc.).Assist with month-end and year-end financial system activities.Partner with accounting leadership to ensure systems align with GAAP and internal policies.Data, Reporting & SQLDevelop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire, or similar BI tools.Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze financial data.Ensure data quality, accuracy, and integrity across financial systems and reporting layers.Support ad-hoc analysis for Finance and Accounting leadership.Process ImprovementConduct process evaluations and assist teams in redesigning workflows for automation and efficiency.Identify opportunities to streamline data flows and reduce manual work.Develop documentation such as process maps, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and data dictionaries.QualificationsRequired:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.3–6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar technical role.Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial processes, and terminology (AP, AR, GL, month-end close, reconciliations, accruals, etc.).Strong SQL skills (querying, joins, data validation, troubleshooting).Experience with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Spotfire.Experience supporting finance or ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Infor, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Preferred:Experience in process redesign, automation tools, or workflow platforms.Background in system integrations, data modeling, or ETL concepts.Experience with SOX-compliant environments or audit support.
