Technical Consultant Database Engineer at Esri

OverviewIn the role of a Database Engineer you will work with a broad range of customers on enterprise database design and implementation strategies while applying Esri technology best practices. You will consult with customers to understand business and technical requirements design enterprise data management strategies and implement those strategies throughout the engagement life cycle. You will work both independently and as part of project teams to configure back-end geospatial database management capabilities that support customer workflows utilizing ArcGIS web desktop and mobile applications.This team supports our Federal and Capital region customers. You will be part of a talented cross-functional team that delivers capabilities that enable our customers to make a difference in communities around the world.The Professional Services division is the consulting and implementation arm of Esri. The Professional Services organization is comprised of nearly 1000 talented business and technical professionals who strive every day to help our users be successful.Esri has a Relocation Assistance Program and can provide support with relocating to the Vienna VA area for this position.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement robust scalable and secure database solutions to support mission-critical applicationsCollaborate with cross-functional teams during all phases of implementation including requirements analysis design build/configuration and deploymentConfigure and maintain database environments including backup restore high-availability and disaster recovery strategiesMonitor and tune database performance using industry-standard tools and methodologies (such as query optimization indexing strategies)Implement data security measures access controls and compliance standards across environmentsAutomate routine database loading maintenance and monitoring tasks to improve efficiencyProvide technical guidance and best practices for database design migration and integration projectsRequirements5 years of hands-on experience in database design administration and optimization for Oracle SQL Server PostgreSQL or SAP HANAFamiliarity with database design principles data loading techniques backup and recovery solutions performance monitoring and tuning database maintenance and securityScripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflowsExposure to geospatial concepts such as spatial data types coordinate systems and spatial indexingAbility to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and non-technical project managers or customersUS citizenship and willingness and ability to obtain a public trust background investigation or security clearanceBachelors degree in computer science mathematics GIS or related STEM fieldRecommended QualificationsExperience with ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabasesKnowledge of integrating GIS with other enterprise systemsOne or more industry-standard IT certifications (such as Esri CompTIA Microsoft Amazon PostgreSQL Oracle)#LI-AN1#LI-OnsiteRequired Experience:Contract Key Skills Anti Money Laundering,Dhtml,B2C,IOS,Administrative,AV Employment Type : Full Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
