Job Summary:Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly services to customers, involving receipt and payment of cash, and to recognize customers' needs with suggestions appropriate to the Bank's services. Follows the established policies and procedures for this area, in accordance with the Bank and the supervisor's direction.Responsibilities:Responds to customers' inquiries as appropriateMaintains proper cash level in drawers, keeps cash secure, and maintains a high level of safety for the Bank.Accepts checks for cashing, receives checking and related accounts; accepts deposits, verifies cash and endorsements, makes change, and issues receiptsReceives savings deposits, pays withdrawals after verifying balance and signature; redeems U.S. Savings BondsReceives loan payments when installment loan coupon accompanies paymentProcesses night deposit and mail-in depositsProcess cashier's checks, cash advances, and other Bank services. Accepts applications and issues U.S. Savings bondsMay service ATM according to schedule or needMay accepts tax deposits and various utility paymentsOpens safety deposit boxesCompletes CTR reports as neededPerforms duties of branch CSR on scheduled Saturday rotationMay assist with opening new accountsCross-sells bank and affiliate servicesCompletes all required trainingPerforms other related duties as required or assignedEducation and Experience Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent.One to Two years of customer service and cash handling experience required; experience in a bank or similar financial institution preferred. Strong customer contact skills to meet and greet the public in a friendly, courteous manner responding to a variety of situations in a professional mannerMaintain confidentiality of the Bank's records and customer transactions.Detail oriented, accurate, and able to multi-task; good mathematical aptitudeAbility to operate a computer terminal, 10 key, and other general office equipmentWillingness to be involved and represent Southern Bancorp through civic and community organizations.Regularly required to sit, to talk, and to hear; reach with hands and arms. Must occasionally stand and walk; stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision.
