Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSummaryThe ideal candidate for the Assistant Teacher should be a high school graduate, at least 19 years of age, and have experience in an early childhood program working with one and two year olds. CPR and First Aid a plus, other training and background checks will be required upon hire.Candidates should be professionals who embrace working in a highly collaborative environment. One class has 11 students with 3 full time teachers. The other class has 8 students with 2 full time teachers. The hours for both of these positions are 9-5:30 Monday through Friday. These are temporary positions. The job begins in January and the program ends May 22, 2026. DutiesTeachers operate the classroom in compliance with all Georgia child care licensing standards. S/He ensures that child care routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with good child development principles. This includes routines related to diapering, hand washing, eating, napping and transitioning between activities. The position also ensures that parents receive adequate information about their child's experiences at the school through daily contacts. The teacher also observes children to detect signs of illness, injury, emotional distress, or other special needs and report these signs immediately.Provide a safe and loving environment for the children in his/her careChange diapers as neededSoothe children by singing to and cuddling themSupervise and engage with toddlers on the floor as they play with age-appropriate toysSupervise toddlers at nap timeEnsure play, sleep and changing areas are kept cleanAppropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all timesEngage children in activities and play that stimulates their developmentEnsure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needsApproach parents daily and speak with them about their child(ren)Enter data into Brightwheel to communicate daily activities with parentsRequirementsQualificationsA caring individual who enjoys teaching young childrenPossess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absencesBe mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of children alone in a classroomGreat customer service skills to communicate effectively with parentsHave an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectationsBe able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 50lbsBe available for employment and available to work the 9:00am-5:30 pm shift Monday through FridayHave dependable transportationAbility to pass a background checkExtended periods of time sitting on the floorAbility to work from January through MayMust be able to work well together on a team with other teachersBenefitsFull benefits package available to all full time employees (Health, dental and vision insurance, 403B with matching percentage, holidays and PTO, and free choice in daily meals).
