This posting does not apply to a specific current opening. Respondents to this posting will be included in a general custodial services pool and as positions become available applications will be screened.These positions would report to the Building and Grounds Manager and work to maintain the overall appearance and cleanliness of the designated work area. Work performed in this position includes manual cleaning and maintenance of UWGB buildings. General areas of responsibility include: cleaning offices restrooms and other building areas; maintaining all floor surfaces including mopping buffing vacuuming shampooing and refinishing; cleaning windows (inside and outside); cleaning furniture; assisting with furniture piano and equipment moves as required; stocking restrooms and custodial work areas with necessary supplies and products; waste and recycling removal; snow removal and salting of building entrances. Key Job Responsibilities:Assist with special event setupsGrounds duties including lawn careMaintain all floor surfaces including mopping buffing vacuuming shampooing and refinishingPerform snow removal and salting of building entrances & parking lotsChange and/or replace light bulbsRemove waste and recyclingClean offices walls blackboards dry erase boards windows furniture restrooms and other building areasAssist with furniture and equipment movesDepartment:Facilities ManagementRequired Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent at time of applicationKnowledge of the proper methods materials and equipment for a wide range of generalcustodial work Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as a vacuum cleaner or a floor scrubberDemonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population creating a culture of inclusionAbility to work independently and as part of a team environment on collaborative effortsMust have the ability to maintain high standards of cleanlinessPreferred Qualifications:Experience working at a college or universityKnowledge of basic safety precautions including the safe and proper use of toxic chemicals and knowledge of heavy lifting methods to ensure safetyAbility to perform basic computer functions including Internet browsing and e-mailPhysical Demands:Ability to push pull reach bend twist stoop kneel move furniture perform repetitive motions overhead work frequent stair and ladder climbing.Ability to lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist occasionallyAbility to lift 30 lbs. from floor to overhead occasionallyAbility to stand and walk continuously through 8-hour work shiftAbility to work outside in adverse weather conditionsConditions of Appointment: A criminal conviction investigation and pre-work screen examination will be conducted on the finalist(s).
