The goals of the department are to provide a broad interdisciplinary background of the knowledge and skills needed to improve the quality of life for target populations or methods of intervention; through supervised fieldwork, to provide experience applying academic knowledge and skills in human services organization.For more information: Human ServicesThe PositionThe temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled based on student enrollment and authorized funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available. ResponsibilitiesThe main responsibility for this lecturer position will be to teach a specific class, hold office hours, communicate and resolve student issues as pertaining to the class, with the department chair and other faculty/staff in the department. Additional responsibilities include attending departmental retreats and meetings, and as assigned when discussed and hired. QualificationsRequired QualificationsA Master’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.Applicants must have experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.Preferred QualificationsA Ph.D. or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.Employment Requirement Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
