Job Description

Position:Staff Diver(Temporary)Reports To:Dive Program ManagerPosition Summary:The Staff Diverwill be primarily responsible for supporting daily dive operations at the LLPA. The Staff Diver will fill in for all positions of the dive team during daily operations help with the care and maintenance of dive equipment and ensure the dive locker rooms are properly maintained. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for all cleaning and maintenance of dive-related equipment supplies support spacesSupport all dive operationsProactively review records and inspect dive-related equipment function to identify issuesMaintain all necessary training and certifications for job function.Maintains all necessary records related to dive operations equipment and trainingResponsible for supporting institutional and best practice standardsExperience and Qualifications:One (1) year of work experience in Aquarium Scientific or Commercial Diving preferredExperience in technical diving methods as applied to aquarium diving including emergency response Tethered Diving Full Face Mask Diving Surface Supplied Air Diving and Underwater Communications Systems preferredBe proficient in the proper use of equipment hand tools and shop equipment Critical Skills/Competencies:Demonstrated knowledge of methods procedures hazards and safety precautions associated with aquarium divingExperience diving with and working around living aquatic animals.Maintaining a consistent professional attitude high motivation and ability to accept feedback.Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office software packagesPreferred experience in underwater maintenance and repairCertificates Licenses RegistrationsOpen water dive certification (PADI or NAUI) or better.Certified in First Aid CPR AED and Oxygen AdministrationPreferred Rescue Diver or higher certification by a nationally recognized agencyWorking Conditions and Physical Demands:Sitting standing climbing swimming and carrying intermittent weights of up to 50 lbs.Hot cold humid and wet environmentsDriving Aquarium vehicles operating heavy machinery using power tools and working around chemicals.Ladders elevated platforms enclosed spaces and uneven surfaces.Hours and availability: This is an hourly position calculated at 40 hours per week.Special Working Conditions:Medical clearance required prior to accepting the positionThis job requires working underwaterThe Living Planet Aquarium is proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive environment for all.
