Job Description SummaryThe Second Shift Operator is primarily responsible for the safe and effective operation of combustion testing for full scale full load single can combustion testing. They will interact with the facility main PLC to drive the test article through all desired test conditions. While in charge of the main progress of the test they will monitor all equipment to ensure damage does not occur throughout the facility. Additionally the Operator will assist in maintenance activities to ensure long term test readiness.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesMonitor test equipment to ensure long-term health of facility and safety of coworkersAssist Test Engineers in executing combustion and rig testing by interacting with a human machine interface (HMI) to actuate valves pumps and motors to reproduce real life test conditionsResponsible for daily operation of fuel systems (natural gas hydrogen propane butane ethane fuel oil) air systems (11000 HP air compressors) steam systems (boilers and super heater) inert gas systems (nitrogen carbon dioxide) and fuel and air heatersAssist Facility Engineers with maintenance of facility system and troubleshooting issuesWork closely with Test Engineers in reviewing test requirements and assist in test planningBe responsible for full compliance with GE and regulatory Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policiesResponsible for daily system process line up and end of day Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)Required QualificationsMinimum 3 yr experience with power plant facility operations or instrumentation systemsAssociates degree in Engineering or other technical field or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 5 years.Desired CharacteristicsBS in Mechanical Aerospace Electrical Controls or Chemical Engineering5 yr experience in plant facility or gas turbine operationsExcellent computer skillsWorking knowledge of combustion design and/or test and validation programsStrong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.Motivated self-starter and excellent multi-tasking skillsKnowledge of high-pressure/high-temperature fuel inert gas and air systemsThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110% 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
