Stability. Adaptability. Longevity.PRIMARY FUNCTION:Serve as a positive role model for youth, providing support, coaching, training, and supervision within a healthy, positive relationship. RESPONSIBILITIES:Work with youth to develop interpersonal, communication, social, and problem- solving skills, as well as age-appropriate behaviors and constructive use of leisure time Provide and supervise recreational and social activities based on the goals established collaboratively with the youth, parents, and placing agency Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of youth, flexibility, a non-threatening manner, respect for youth’s autonomy, confidentiality, socio-cultural values, personal goals, lifestyle choices, and family interactions, and appropriate professional boundaries and ethics Provide the number of hours per month/week contracted by the placing agency Complete session progress notes for each session and provide to supervisor, as required Attend FAPT, treatment team, or family engagement meetings as requested by supervisor Maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid Maintain a driving record that meets the requirements of Elk Hill Maintain liability coverage, at the level required by Elk Hill, on personal auto insurance policy Participate in face-to-face supervision with supervisor at least once per month Work cooperatively with all Elk Hill staff to improve the quality of the whole organization Other duties as assignedCORE COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:Ability to work independently and without direct supervision Experience working with children and/or adolescents Willingness to travel and work non-traditional business hours Ability to provide timely, accurate and thorough, well written documentation of services as requiredExhibit consistent personal integrity in dealings with youth, families, co-workers, and agency personnel The temperament to work with, and care for, children and families with special needsMust demonstrate sensitivity to Elk Hill’s service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristicsCREDENTIALS AND/OR EDUCATIONHigh-School Diploma or equivalent preferredMaintain valid driver's license and good driving record.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to traverse inside and outside of the property and other job sites including uneven terrainPeriods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerAbility to engage with mentor in a variety of activities, both physical and non-physical in nature, in both indoor and outdoor environments, and in a variety of weather conditionsFrequently lift up to 5 pounds, periodically lift up to 25 pounds depending on the activity engaged inTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:Frequent transportation of a client as needed or requiredFrequent travel to other locations as needed or requiredDiversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is at the forefront of what we do at Elk Hill, and we enforce respectful communication and cooperation between all.
