JOB DESCRIPTION

TIG Welder

Engage in stainless-steel fabrication, straightening, and welding using both gas and electric welding equipment. This role also anticipates working with carbon-steel and exotic metals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform TIG and MIG welding.
  • Receive and interpret instructions, prints, and work orders for job preparation.
  • Adhere to technical documentation, design specifications, and related welding procedure specifications.
  • Execute fabrication by cutting, burning, straightening, and welding various metals.
  • Read, understand, and execute work according to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and other pertinent welding documents.
  • Organize and perform record-keeping tasks such as weld mapping on complex weldments to maintain material traceability.
  • Use calibrated precision measuring instruments, including a Faro Arm, to ensure fabrication tolerances are met.
  • Identify and recommend product and process improvements.
  • Utilize basic MRP system knowledge for daily tasks.
  • Complete quality verifications, weld records, and other build records.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency with TIG Welding (GTAW) and GMAW (MIG/FCAW).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of welding experience or equivalent certification.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings for proper applications of tolerances, fit, and process control.
  • Experience with test positions: 1G, 2G, 3G and joint type: complete joint penetration on stainless steel using TIG and MIG technologies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate of Arts degree may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
  • Accredited trade or vocational welding certificate may substitute for one (1) year of experience.

Work Environment

The role is part of the Applied Technologies division specializing in stainless steel glovebox engineering and fabrication for the nuclear industry. Employees will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery, equipment, and vibration, along with possible exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals. There is a risk of electrical shock and other hazards typical in a manufacturing environment, including working at heights and in various weather conditions. The noise level can be loud, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment and clothing.

This is a Permanent position based out of Spokane Valley, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $79497.60/yr.
