Operate a variety of machine tools including lathes mills grinders and CNC equipment. Interpret complex blueprints schematics and engineering drawings to produce precise components. Perform precision measurements using micrometers calipers gauges and optical comparators. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with existing tooling to improve manufacturing processes. Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool construction and repair. Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize tool design and functionality. Recommended Qualifications Proven experience in tool and die making mold making or precision machining. Proficiency in interpreting complex blueprints schematics and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Skilled in operating a variety of conventional and CNC machine tools (e.g. mills lathes grinders EDM). Strong understanding of metallurgy various tool steels and heat treatment processes. Expertise in using precision measuring instruments (e.g. calipers micrometers optical comparators CMM). Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or an equivalent technical degree/certification. Bonus Qualifications Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g. SolidWorks Mastercam). Experience operating and programming CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) equipment. Specialized experience with advanced machining processes such as EDM or Wire EDM. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or Continuous Improvement methodologies. Previous experience mentoring or training junior machinists/toolmakers.
