JOB DESCRIPTION
Customs & Trade Compliance Coordinator
The Customs & Trade Compliance Coordinator is responsible for supporting import, export, and customs compliance activities in accordance with German customs regulations, EU export control requirements, and applicable U.S. export regulations.
This role works closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, logistics providers, and government agencies to ensure shipments are processed accurately and compliantly. The ideal candidate has experience with international trade, customs documentation, tariff classification, and export compliance.
Customs & Export Operations
- Prepare and submit export declarations through ATLAS using the AEB system.
- Coordinate import clearance activities with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and parcel carriers.
- Review shipping and customs documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain accurate customs and trade compliance records and documentation.
Trade Compliance
- Classify products using applicable customs tariff codes.
- Assist with product classifications, permits, licenses, and binding tariff information requests.
- Perform sanctions screening and embargo checks.
- Ensure compliance with German customs regulations, EU export control requirements, and U.S. export regulations.
- Manage country of origin and preference-related activities, including supplier declarations.
- Stay current on changes in trade regulations and support implementation of new requirements.
Reporting & Audits
- Support required regulatory reporting, including CBAM and Intrastat filings.
- Verify invoices related to shipping, freight, duties, and import charges.
- Assist with internal and external audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Communicate with customs authorities and other regulatory agencies as needed.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree, trade certification, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in logistics, international trade, supply chain, customs, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- 24 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Customs compliance
- Import/export operations
- International trade
- Logistics or supply chain operations
- Entry-level candidates with relevant education, internships, or training will also be considered.
Required Skills
- Experience preparing shipping and export documentation.
- Knowledge of import/export processes and customs procedures.
- Strong data entry and recordkeeping skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Team-oriented mindset and collaborative work style.
- Professional English communication skills (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Syspro.
- Experience with the AEB platform and ATLAS export filing system.
- Knowledge of tariff classification, export controls, sanctions screening, or trade compliance regulations.
- Experience working in manufacturing, aerospace, logistics, or international trade environments.

- Must be legally authorized to work in the European Union.
- Must follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Additional duties may be assigned as business needs evolve.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntington Beach, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $46.00 - $59.00/hr.
