Transit Compliance CoordinatorDepartment: TransportationEmployment Status: Full-TimeFLSA Status: Non-ExemptReports To: Transportation DirectorCivil Service Status: ClassifiedAbout the PositionThe City of Wilmington is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Transit Compliance Coordinator. This role supports the Citys public transportation system by planning developing implementing and promoting transportation programs that serve Wilmington and the surrounding area.This position acts as the official ODOT Grant Manager and liaison to ODOT programming overseeing grant administration TAR reporting contract compliance and all required local state and federal reporting. The coordinator ensures safe and lawful operation of the system fleet in accordance with ODOT contractual and regulatory requirements including U.S. DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations.This is a classified position and candidates must successfully complete a Civil Service examination to be considered for hire.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan develop implement and support transportation programs that meet community needsIdentify short- and long-term transportation planning needs and develop strategies to address themPrepare and monitor the Transportation Departments annual budget; approve purchase orders and manage expendituresAct as Grant Manager and reporting official for ODOT Section 5310 and Section 5311 programsPursue additional funding opportunities including ODOT Medicaid/Medicare Transportation and other sourcesProvide oversight of grants contracts and service delivery activitiesEnsure timely completion and submission of all local state and federal grant reportsServe as the departments official for TAR reporting and complianceDevelop and update public transportation resource materials including manuals brochures website content maps and informational materialsCollect and analyze ridership and demographic data; prepare reports to identify trends and service gapsMaintain certifications required to carry out job dutiesPrepare ODOT reporting and communication in accordance with professional standardsAttend conferences trainings and seminars as assignedMeet all job safety requirements and applicable OSHA standardsDemonstrate regular and predictable attendance; may work evenings weekends holidays or on-call as requiredPerform other related duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsAssociates degree in Transportation Community Planning Project Management Business/Public Administration or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education experience and trainingDocumented experience in program management transportation or planningValid State of Ohio drivers license and insurability under the Citys insurance planPreferred Skills and AbilitiesBachelors degree in a related fieldTwo (2) years of experience in program managementExperience with grant writing or grant administrationKnowledge of transportation laws and regulations government grant programs budgeting public administration marketing and project managementAbility to interpret regulations prepare reports analyze data communicate effectively organize records coordinate projects and maintain strong working relationshipsSkill in typing data entry computer operations Microsoft Office and modern office equipmentWork EnvironmentMay encounter exposure to fumes odors dust chemicals hazardous waste unclean conditions or poorly ventilated areasMay work around moving mechanical parts and in high-stress or emotionally charged situationsExposure to outdoor weather including hot cold wet or windy conditionsMay encounter hazardous driving conditions or crowdsRequires light physical work including lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and frequent walking or standingPosition is classified as Light Work per U.S. Department of Labor standardsCompensation and BenefitsStarting Pay: $26.86Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance paid leave and participation in Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS)Application InformationApplications will be accepted until December 23 2025.A Civil Service Exam will be held on Tuesday December 30 2025 at 3pm in the Community Room at 69 N.
