Lung Transplant Fellowship Opportunity in Pennsylvania

UPMC is recruiting a Heart & Lung Transplant Fellow to participate in advanced training across two highvolume services. The fellow will facilitate the Heart and Lung Transplant services with graded responsibility toward independence under the direction of the heart and lung division co-chiefs. The structure of the fellowship is rotation-based. In addition to surgical management, the fellow will serve as a teaching assistant for junior cardiothoracic fellows and residents, contributing to bedside teaching, casebased education, and structured didactics.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daytoday management of heart and lung transplant inpatients, including pre, intra, and postoperative care, ICU rounding, and discharge planning.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care with transplant cardiology, pulmonology, advanced heart and lung failure teams, ECMO/VAD services, infectious diseases, pharmacy, PT/OT, social work, and care management.
  • Participate in organ offers/list management, selection conferences, operative planning, and OR participation for transplant and related procedures.
  • Engage in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives within the transplant programs.
  • Participate in call as assigned.
