Our San Diego California office is seeking a Transportation Engineer. The Transportation Engineer position requires technical expertise in roadway and highway design. The engineering duties are comprehensive which include design or design support developing contract plans specifications and construction cost estimates. Design elements may include geometrics cross-section grading drainage trackwork utility relocations drainage traffic control and other hardscape.Responsibilities & QualificationsResponsibilities:Work on aspects of transportation design which may include alignments profile grades cross sections drainage facilities construction details construction staging utility plans and/or any other component of project studies planning reports or final design.Working on roadways in urban or rural settings; working on complex interchanges designsInvolved in pavement mix and thickness designCalculate quantities and prepare engineering estimates.Assist in preparation of technical reports and correspondence for development of transportation projects.Perform preliminary field investigations and existing data research to be used in preparation of a working project base file with topography mapping and utilities.Organize and maintain project files.Ensure that all submittals are in accordance with company production and design standards.Coordinate with the different Transportation Sectors within TYLin working with other professionals to build and maintain roadways.Under the oversight of senior level staff engineering design including 3D geometric design of freeways highways and streets.Develop conceptual roadway interchange and intersections to improve capacity and Level of Service.Develop flood abatement and stormwater treatment through innovative measures such as regional stormwater facilities and maximizing existing drainage systems.Design of stormwater management facilities collection systems and stormwater modeling.Use a variety of data sources / standards Internet documents reports surveys and personal contact to facilitate transportation development and analysis.Present results in written documentation plans and presentations.Ability to independently evaluate select and apply standard techniques procedures and criteria using judgment in making adaptations and modifications to produce the best results and make engineering recommendations.Prepare and disseminate information in a suitable format through extensive interaction with internal and external contacts.Other assignments as needed.Qualifications: 4 8 years of relevant experience in transportation design (roadway/highway)Professional Engineer licensepreferredRequires technical (Bachelors or higher) degree in civil engineering from an accredited technical institution.Experience in the use of OpenRoads software.Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Acrobat/Bluebeam 3D Modeling and other engineering production software is recommended.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsPositive self-driven attitudeAbility to prioritize and organize assigned tasksClient focused always striving to give clients the best solutions.Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients toughest challenges.High levels of integrity always doing the right thing in an ethical fair and sustainable way.Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team working together toward technical excellence.Additional InformationTYLin is committed to pay equity.As part of that commitment we haveprovidedthe base compensation range of$88800- $133200 annually for this position and local market.We recognize that each candidate brings a unique set of skills experienceeducationand competencies to the table that will be reflected in our offer.TYLin is proud to offer exciting career development opportunities.TYLinoffers a comprehensive total rewards package.
