JOB DESCRIPTION

We're looking for a Ultrasonographer OB, someone who's ready to grow with our company. In this position, you'll perform routine and specialized ultrasound exams for interpretation by the Radiologists using specialized equipment. In addition, to you'll be responsible for patient care, appropriate documentation, quality control, quality improvement, act as Charge
Sonographer in absence of the Team Leader and maintaining a safe environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Works independently following guidelines established by the Radiologists to produce diagnostic ultrasound images
• Confirms the appropriateness of the ordered exam based on the diagnosis
• Contacts the appropriate medical staff for additional information regarding the patient when necessary
• Communicates with the Radiologist to obtain the appropriate exam protocol
• Makes informed decisions regarding protocols when the Radiologist is unavailable
• Selects the appropriate equipment and patient position to ensure optimal diagnostic images as observed by the Team Leader or Radiologist
• Assists the Radiologist with biopsies, drainages, and any invasive procedure when technical assistance is needed
• Assists with the scheduling of ultrasound examinations, ensuring that priority is assigned to urgent cases
• Transmits cases as needed to the Archive System
• Assists the Radiologist with any procedure requested
• Performs quality control checks for all exams scanned by following established protocol guidelines or as observed by the Team Leader and/or Radiologist
• Documents the following: pertinent patient history, if any type of sedation was used on the patient requisition, and the number of films used (including discards and copies) in the radiology information system, ensuring compliance with departmental standards
• Maintains an accurate logbook of all patients scanned daily
• Checks requisitions daily to ensure appropriate exam charges, as documented by the Performance Improvement monitor or Team Leader
• Reports all equipment malfunctions as documented in the equipment maintenance log and apprises the Team Leader of issues within 24 hours of the malfunction
• Is actively involved in Performance Improvement, providing innovative solutions to issues and problems
• Communicates in an age-appropriate manner as outlined in the Plan of Patient Care manual
• Renders first aid when necessary and notifies the appropriate personnel of emergency situations, as documented by the quality improvement monitor, Team Leader, or medical staff
• Consistently displays a professional demeanor as observed by guests, staff, or the Team Leader
• Participates in continuing education and in-service programs by attending section meetings, workshops, and seminars; reads professional publications and reviews procedure manuals; attends classes
• Participation in all mentioned activities is documented by attendance rosters or certificates
• Performs Team Leader responsibilities and participates in special projects as needed

Skills & Requirements
• Successful completion of a formal training in a school of Ultrasound required
• Bachelor's Degree Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred
• RDMS - Cert-Reg Diag. Medical Sono by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) required
• ARRT - Amer Regis Radiologic Technol by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists preferred
• CMRT - Cert Med Radiologic Techngst by the Texas Department of Health/Bureau of Radiation Control preferred
• 3 years Radiographer/ultrasound experience preferred
