Job Description SummaryThe Department of Public Health Sciences at The Medical University of South Carolina is looking to add a program assistant to assist with the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) research program. The candidate will provide technical and professional research services in the Department of Public Health Sciences and work closely with the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Pediatrics at MUSC. The applicant will be responsible for helping with many aspects of the study including data collection biologic sample collection and processing medical record abstraction assuring regulatory compliance and assisting with any lab-related tasks that may arise. We are particularly interested in candidates who are interested in biologic sample collection and processing. The candidate must be flexible as well as demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Provide guidance on system improvements related to specimen handling. Maintain and update lab supplies needed for study.30% - Evaluate participants for entry into research study at local site and by traveling to nearby MUSC clinics. Conduct screening and recruitment of research participants. Obtain informed consent.20% - Abstract medical records and maintain medical record release forms.10% - Collect data through site visits and follow-ups.5% - Ensure adherence to federal regulations IRB standards and protocol requirements.5% - Responsible for problem solving issues that arise during study procedures and participating in troubleshooting and development of alternative approaches with the study team. Perform additional functions incidental to research activities.MUSC Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:A high school diploma andfour years ofrelevant program experience. (Infrequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision corrected in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand. (Frequent) Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance. (Frequent) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Frequent) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity with correction. (Continuous) Ability to hear and/or understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet.
