As a vehicle dynamics development engineer you will collaborate with NVH and chassis hardware engineers along with vehicle integration to develop an optimized dynamic performance for the will also develop new tuning and verification methods using a mix of vehicle HIL and simulation to optimize the most effective solution for tuning and validation of the vehicle dynamics performance. ResponsibilitiesYou will:Define and detail the vehicle-level acceptance criteria for Vehicle Dynamics functions (Ride Handling Stability Control and Steering)Lead/support the development of verification methods and verification plansCollaborate with global functional partners to meet system and vehicle level performance requirementsCascade system-level requirements to functional partnersLead/support the development and sign-off of the vehicle dynamics performance for the vehicle programsSupport feature calibration studies to satisfy vehicle-level performance requirementsDevelop pre/post processing tools using MATLAB and CAN tools for data collection and analysisFind opportunities to utilize Simulator HIL and CAE for feature tuning and performance verificationPlan and execute real-world evaluations via vehicle/HIL/Virtual testing and identify system problems and issuesSupport and coordinate root-cause analysis with internal functions and external suppliers to ensure delivered system achieves feature requirementsWith provided training drive limit handling maneuverersTravel to support off-site development trips (significant travel during winter months and minimal travel the remainder of the year)QualificationsYoull have...The minimum requirements we seekBachelors Degree in Engineering or Computer Science1 year of experience with Suspension Tuning Calibration Controls and/or CAE of Dynamic SystemsEven better you may have...Our preferred requirementsDeep understanding of vehicle dynamics principlesA proven ability to tune vehicle systems in real-world scenarios and expertise in leveraging simulation tools for development and analysisMastersDegree in Engineering or Computer ScienceExperience applying Systems Engineering principlesExperience with testing methodsStrong problem solving skillsExperience using typical automotive interfaces (e.g. CAN CANFD Autosar Auto-Ethernet etc.)Experience using Vector CANape Vector CANalyzer ATI VISION ETAS INCA or similar toolsExperience with Matlab/SimulinkExperience with CarSim MSC Adams or similar toolsExperience in verification techniques (e.g. design verification methods vehicle data acquisition/analysis etc.)Experience with virtual validation methods (e.g. HIL MIL SIL DIL etc.)Strong leadership skills passion for quality passion to improve customer happinessGood communications and project management skillsAbility to take initiative and work independentlyStrong teamwork and interpersonal skillsYou may not check every box or your experience may look a little different from what weve outlined but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company we encourage you to apply!As an established global company we offer the benefit of choice.
