Come join our team!Vehicle Maintenance Supervisors oversee the day-to-day operations of the vehicle maintenance staff at a facility. This position provides leadership and direction to maintenance staff. Supervisors coordinate and supervise maintenance work and repairs, as well as monitor safety, productivity, and quality. Responsibilities of Position:Supervise the maintenance staff, including training, scheduling work assignments, and authorization of overtime ensuring all work is performed in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policiesPerform supervisory functions including but not limited to completing employee reviews, monitoring/tracking attendance, and holding team member accountable Prioritize work in order to meet the needs of operations and ensure efficiency Coach and mentor direct reports with proper use of SAP programming and assignmentRegularly communicate with management, operations, and others regarding the status of fleet vehicles, containers and/or other equipmentEnsure the maintenance department maintains quality and safety standardsPerform and monitor vehicle inspectionsReview work orders and ensure parts inventory is maintained appropriatelyEnsure all paperwork is completed accurately and timelyTrain and direct employees to meet or exceed standardsWork cross functionally and maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, employees, and managersConduct employee observations and work audits to ensure safety and procedures are being followedPerform road calls to repair vehicles as necessary in the event of vehicle breakdownsRoad test vehicles to determine necessary repairs as neededPerform mechanical duties as neededPerform other duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibility:This position will manage 6-20 employeesSkills & Abilities Needed for Position:Familiarity with use of repair manuals, electrical wiring, and schematics necessary to troubleshootAttention to detail and ability to track and maintain documentationExcellent verbal & written communication skillsComputer skills; working knowledge of Windows applications, SAP a plusMust be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety trainingExperience & Knowledge Needed for Position:3 years performing repairs and maintenance on diesel powered, heavy vehicles, hydraulics, equipment, and/or related componentsWaste industry experience, a plusManagement experience preferredExperience working with welding equipment preferredKnowledge and understanding of OSHA and DOT rules and regulationsPhysical Requirements in a Regular Workday:Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10 lbsOccasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbsRarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbsOccasionally working outside Frequently working in changing temperaturesContinuously working in wet/humid conditionsContinuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matterOccasionally stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawlingOccasionally climbing and/or balancingOccasionally sittingFrequently standing/walkingAdditional Working Conditions/Aspects:Must be at least 19 years of ageNo more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 yearsMust not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 yearsPossible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areasExposure to residential and commercial wasteAbility to travel between offices, as requiredAbility to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as neededAbility to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidaysMust be available for 24-hour emergency callsLegally eligible to work in the United StatesValid driver’s license (if applicable)Must successfully complete pre-employment testingMust be able to read and speak the English languageThis job description is intended to describe the general nature, complexity, and level of work to be performed by employees assigned to this position and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required.
