Job DescriptionThe Role:GM Defense is seeking a highly motivated and experiencedVehicle Performance Manager to join the engineering team. This role is critical to ensuring our products meet the performance and safety requirements of our global customers. We are looking for a dynamic leader who thrives in fast-paced environments demonstrates initiative and excels at working across cross-functional teams to deliver winning products. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a roll-up-the-sleeves mentality and a passion for leading complex efforts from concept to product delivery.In this role youll guide develop and inspire a group of development and system safety engineers in the ambiguous and dynamic GM Defense space.What Youll Do:Adapt GM vehicle development and system safety processes for defense projectsGuide vehicle performance balance across integration groups to assure winning productsProvide direction and prioritization in areas of System Safety Energy Vehicle Dynamics NVH Driveability and overall vehicle performance and ensure that integration is on time for project requirementsChampion performance technology system safety and innovation executionDevelop and maintain strong partnerships with VDDV Vehicle Performance and System Safety organization.Responsible for Vehicle Technical Specs and the Development and Validation to requirements.Lead Vehicle Development fleet usage and counts within annual budget allocationEstimate workload requirements for future projects and aligning resources to support executionLead vehicle buy off rides with vehicle performance status and issue listAdhere to all safety precautions and requirements and treat safety as the top priority during all work activitiesProvide vehicle performance and system safety execution communication to leadership as Single Voice for vehicle performance and system safety to Vehicle Chief Engineer.Support demonstration activities for customers partners and mediaTravel as Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Science Systems Engineering Mechanical Engineeringor related7 years total engineering experience5 years in Vehicle Development experience in the areas of Ride & Handling Noise and Vibration Energy/Drive Quality Chassis Controls Vehicle controls and/or calibration (including integration centers)Ability to lead a group of vehicle performance and system safety engineersIn-depth knowledge of hardware software and calibration interfacesIn-depth knowledge of system safety processesStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to empower and inspire employees to exceptional levels of performanceStrong innovation and execution balance to create solutions while executing on the critical pathExcellent communication skills with the ability to present technical topics to individuals at all levels within the organizationBroad knowledge of vehicle development process and understanding of key deliverablesPossess a valid drivers license with the ability to operate test vehiclesCandidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen U.S. permanent resident asylee or refugee) What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)Master of Science degree in Engineering or BusinessDFSS Black belt10 years in Vehicle Development experience in multiple fields of Ride & Handling Noise and Vibration Energy/Drive Quality Chassis Controls Vehicle controls and/or calibration (including integration centers).2 yearsDesign Release Engineer experience2 years Management or other equivalent people leader experienceMilitary or defense industry experience #GMD

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week or other frequency dictated by their manager.

The selected candidate will be required to travel <25% for this role.

This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review.

The position is subject to export control restrictions and requires the successful candidate to be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen U.S. permanent resident asylee or refugee).
