Vice Chair of Research Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive SciencesLarner College of Medicine, University of Vermont Position SummaryThe Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the Larner College of Medicine seeks a dynamic and accomplished academic leader to serve as Vice Chair of Research (Associate Professor or Professor rank, to be hired on the Tenure or Faculty Scientist Pathway). This position is responsible for fostering a robust research environment, supporting faculty and trainees in scholarly pursuits, and advancing the department’s research mission through strategic planning and mentorship. Key ResponsibilitiesTrack and report research productivity across the department, including publications, grants, presentations, and other scholarly outputs.Encourage and support scholarly activity among faculty, residents, and fellows, including pursuit of extramural funding, manuscript development, and conference participation at regional, national, and international levels.Mentor junior investigators and early-career faculty to promote career development and research success.Plan and coordinate research activities for residents and fellows, including oversight of research curriculum, project development, and presentation opportunities.Develop and present an annual report summarizing departmental research achievements, challenges, and opportunities.Lead the development of a strategic research plan for the department, outlining goals and priorities for the next 3–5 years.Collaborate with institutional research offices, funding agencies, and external partners to enhance research infrastructure and visibility. QualificationsMD and/or PhD with a proven track record of research excellence, including securing federal, foundation, and/or pharmaceutical funding.Minimum of 5 years of experience in an academic medical department, preferably in obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive sciences, or a related field.Demonstrated leadership experience and a strong history of mentoring junior faculty and trainees.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster collaboration and innovation. Salary InformationThe anticipated salary ranges for this position are:Associate Professor: $136,228 - $154,465 (non-clinical effort) $328,955 - $401,335 (with clinical effort)Professor: $186,513 - $220,577 (non-clinical effort) $336,749 – $450,144 (with clinical effort)  If clinical effort, the referenced salary ranges reflect the combined total range based on dual employment by both the University of Vermont and the University of Vermont Health Medical Group. The salary ranges do not include all components of compensation.
