Role OverviewAs the Vice President of Business Development you are responsible for identifying pursuing and securing new business opportunities within the multifamily property management sector. This role focuses on expanding third-party management contracts and strategic partnerships to support the companys growth objectives. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with deep industry knowledge strong relationship-building skills and a track record of successful business development in real estate or property management.Identify and qualify new business opportunities with property owners institutional investors and developersDevelop and execute strategies to expand third-party management Lead underwriting proposal development pitch presentations and contract negotiations with prospective clientsBuild and maintain a pipeline of qualified leads using market research networking referrals and industry eventsCollaborate with marketing operations and leadership to tailor proposals and ensure alignment with operational capabilitiesStay abreast of multifamily market trends ownership changes and investment activity in key marketsRepresent the company at conferences industry events and networking functionsMaintain CRM records and regularly report on pipeline status and conversion metricsAct as a brand ambassador conveying the value proposition of the companys management platform and servicesQualificationsBachelors degree in Business Real Estate Finance or related field; MBA or CPM preferred5 years of business development experience in multifamily property management real estate investment or related industryStrong network of industry contacts within the multifamily investment or ownership spaceProven ability to close complex deals and grow market shareExcellent communication presentation and interpersonal skillsAbility to travel regularly for client meetings and industry eventsEntrepreneurial mindset with a hunter mentalityStrategic thinker with analytical and financial acumenCollaborative and persuasive with strong executive presenceHighly organized and results-drivenAbout CortlandFounded in 2005 Cortland is an international vertically integrated multifamily real estate investment development and management firm with a resident-centric approach to living experiences.
