Description and FunctionsOpen Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION: Wyoming Department of Corrections Womens Center in Lusk is seeking aVocational Trainerwho will supervise a group of inmate workers. This position provides daily training and instruction for Correctional Industries Cost Accounting Centers and Specialty Products at the Womens Center. The qualified candidate is responsible for the general oversight of the shop and its operations which may include manufacturing quality sewn products to meet customer needs in accordance with established deadlines. This position is also responsible for projecting ordering and managing the inventory of raw materials and finished goods. Hiring and training inmate workers assisting with other account centers and performing accounting functions as needed.Why Choose a Career with the Wyoming Department of CorrectionsCulture of public service and a commitment to work/life balanceEligibility for Public Service Student Loan ForgivenessHealth Dental and Vision InsuranceState Retirement plan forLaw Enforcementand additional savings opportunitiesPaid vacation sick leave and holidaysFor additional information regarding the benefits package please click hereHuman Resource or ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.Administers and interprets vocational and pre-vocational evaluations.Provides meaningful and productive hands-on classroom training on a vocation or trade.Develops training objectives standards lesson guides study materials checklists and other essential items to ensure quality training meeting the needs of students/inmates.Facilitates workshops and other meetings to evaluate department policies and procedures.Through research develop new training manuals for the department.Supervises and provides training for tutors.Administers testing for students/inmates.Maintains inmate files following departmental regulations.Instructs clients and staff in training program methods and data collection.Attends professional development related to subject areas.Utilizes quality control processes to ensure the finished goods meet specifications.Tracks and monitors floor production.Works within established budgets and monitors revenues and expenses for the cost account center.Completes and tracks production-related reports weekly reports production scheduling inventory usage and monthly inventories and tracks items being shipped.Participate in WBI Sales make sales calls customer contacts and deliver products.Attends professional development related to subject areas.Adheres to state facility and federal guidelines related to student/inmate education programs.Assist with financial data entry inmate payroll budget monitoring expenses and other accounting functions.QualificationsPREFERENCES:Preference may be given to those with 2-4 years of experience in industrial productionindustrial manufacturing a supervisory role and knowledge in textile manufacturing embroidering sewing or manufacturingindustries. Preference may be given to an individual with experience in finance and accounting.KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of concepts principles methods and techniques of a vocational trade.Knowledge of basic principles of education psychology human development and counseling techniques.Knowledge of job coaching techniques record keeping and data collection employment counseling and direction and quality assurance.Knowledge of quality control standards.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Bachelors Degree (typically in Education)Experience:0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Vocational Training TechnicianOREducation & ExperienceSubstitution:3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Vocational Training TechnicianCertificates Licenses Registrations:NoneNecessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Must be able to stand and walk on a concrete floor for extended periods of time.May be required to lift items in excess of 20 pounds.Must be able to lift or retrieve items move materials and boxes from overhead locations or shelves onto or off of vehicles in and out of storage areas outside the main building.This position involves some travel.NOTES:FLSA: Non-ExemptThe State of Wyoming is an Equal Opportunity Employer and actively supports the ADA and reasonably accommodates qualified applicants with disabilities.
