Job Description
The Volunteer Emergency Responder supports Dodge County Emergency Response Team Inc.s mission statement and vision. This is done by providing emergency traffic incident management services during large-scale or long-term incidents throughout Dodge County as requested by various police fire or EMS addition to emergency incidents the Volunteer Emergency Responder also assists with local municipal private and not-for-profit events such as parades run/walks and the like. Responsibilities:Specialized Skills and Knowledge Requirements:Basic knowledge of police fire and EMS operationsBasic knowledge of Traffic Incident ManagementSituational adaptabilityAbility to handle high-stress situations and environmentsPrimary Accountabilities:Emergency Traffic Incident Management and Response (60%):Respond to various emergencies throughout Dodge County such as motor vehicle collisions structure fires natural disasters and downed power lines in accordance with FEMA ICS and NIMS guidelinesReport to the DCERT Incident Commander to establish accountability and receive assignmentAssist with setting up traffic detour one-way road operation or other traffic management in accordance with WI TIME guidelinesProvide scene security and safety by maintaining the traffic detour and restricting access to the sceneNotify the Incident Commander and/or Dodge County Central Communications Center of any safety or security matterOnce the incident is resolved quickly and efficiently opening the roadway for traffic useAbove all operating in the safest manner possibleReport to the DCERT Incident Commander to establish accountability and receive assignmentAssisting with Scheduled Events (30%):Assist with setting up traffic detours one-way road operations or other traffic management in accordance with WI TIME guidelinesProvide event security services as needed by monitoring access points and/or patrolling the event groundsOnce the event is completed or the shift is completed quickly and efficiently opening the roadway for traffic use if applicableAbove all operating in the safest manner possibleAdministrative Functions (10%)Attend required regular business meetingsAttend special business meetings as neededComplete incident reports as requiredAbide by By-Laws and Policies and ProceduresAssist the Board of Directors as neededComplete all required training as prescribed in Policies and ProceduresRequirements:Must be 18 years of age or olderMust have an acceptable driving record Must have an acceptable criminal backgroundMust be willing to work or be on call days nights weekends and holidays as needed (except during applicants normal work hours)Dodge County Emergency Response Team Inc.
