The Safety Representative provides support to the Safety Director by implementing safety review of job sites and ensures a safe healthy and accident-free work environment by providing oversight for safety systems and safety training to office and field personnel.Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesGather information necessary to identify possible exposures and effects to any existing hazards associated with the project and its operationsDevise methods (strategies) and make recommendations in eliminating/controlling hazard exposuresDevelop prepare and conduct training as needed to inform employees of proper working methods controls and personal protective equipment needed for specific work taskCreate develop and present safety-training programs as assigned to include specialized re-certification new hire orientation and procedural sessionsEnsure all training records are well documented and properly filedAttend training sessions as needed to improve professional skillsProvide solutions for identified hazardsInteract with field personnel supervision and management to disseminate safety informationConduct and/or attend incident investigations when requiredGenerate create and distribute all reports correctly and in a timely mannerAttend project site safety meetings weeklyConduct daily walk through of work areasAssist in pre-job activities to promote integration of safety into production elementsProvide first aid treatment at level of care as neededReport unsafe conditions to managementMaintain company safety and health programsPerform administrative tasks as neededEstablish treatment centers at project locations in case of medical needsPerform accident investigations as neededReview incoming safety correspondence and act accordinglyProvide on-going support for project safety related needsAdvise management of changes in regulations as neededEnsure all reporting is performed in a timely mannerPromote safety as a fundamental in every jobDevelop and disseminate weekly safety communication to field personnel.Perform other duties as assignedQualifications:CHST CSHO or ASP CSP certification preferred.OSHA 500 preferred.CMAR and preconstruction experience preferred.Experience with asphalt laydown operations and asphalt plant operations preferred.Good organizer meticulous and good public speaker at ease moderating large groups.Bilingual preferred highly desirable.Requirements:Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a safety representative within the construction or related industries.Bachelors degree in Safety and Health or a related field preferred.Knowledge of MS Word MS Excel MS Access and PowerPoint software is required.Strong organizational skills attention to detail and effective public speaking skills including leading safety training and incident investigations.Applicants must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States.
