Location Transition : This position will initially report to our Socorro, NM location, with a planned transition to our new Albuquerque, NM location in Fall 2026.

Reports to: Engineering Manager III, Facilities Operations

Employment/FLSA Status: Full-Time/Exempt

Remote Eligible: No, Socorro, New Mexico. U.S. and transition to a new Albuquerque, NM location in FALL 2026

Travel Requirements: Up to 30% through Sept 2026, afterwards; Up to 30%

Salary Range: $74,000 - $90,000 (depending on experience, skills, and qualifications relative to the job requirements)

Position Summary

The Warehouse Manager I is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing safe and effective operations of the assigned EarthScope warehouse, including coordination of preventative and corrective maintenance of the facility executing shipping and receiving and inventory management. The Warehouse Manager I is accountable for all Government property, company-owned property and EarthScope instrumentation, engagement, and administrative inventory on behalf of EarthScope Consortium, Inc.

Details of Responsibilities

General Essential Job Duties:
  • Responsibility for formal accounting and managing government property.
  • Coordinates with the Facilities Manager for developing reports for government sponsors in specific format with regards to changes in property, disposition requests, etc., as required by policy and OMB standards, for review.
  • Conducts annual inventory of property in coordination with all EarthScope facilities and assists in reconciliation with accounting personnel.
  • Arrange transport for all shipments from the assigned facility.
  • Track and confirm delivery of all outgoing and incoming shipments.
  • Ensure all incoming equipment is received, inspected and stored properly including EarthScope barcoding and entry into the property database, as appropriate.
  • Maintain and monitor accuracy of inventory database.
  • Assist technicians and engineers in equipment preparation including coordination of packaging and staging for experiment shipments and for shipments of network operations supplies.
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely
  • Develops, updates and maintains standard operating procedures for warehouse operations, shipment processing and compliance activities
  • Maintain OSHA compliance in warehouse operations through required safety supplies, regular documented inspections and adherence to established safety protocols
  • Responsible for maintenance of warehouse, security, and general housekeeping.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary for the successful operation of the business.
Leadership and Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • May supervise Warehouse Coordinators.
  • May supervise part-time student workforce team to assist in warehouse operations and shipping/receiving tasks.
  • Interact effectively and efficiently with staff, community, and partnering organizations in support of Instrumentation and other activities.
  • Work with external vendors and community members to arrange services and/or procure supplies.
  • Foster a professional culture through the use of strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communications.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with other team members to ensure tasks are completed on time and with best practices.
  • Collaborate with all team members to ensure the warehouse facility and all related activities are properly coordinated and completed.
Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • At least six (6) years of experience in warehouse and inventory management including staff supervision
  • Experience in tracking and reporting government and company property.
  • Mastery of inventory tools and their implementation.
  • One or more of the following certifications:
  • Hazardous materials,
  • IATA/Lithium battery handling
  • OSHA
  • Lift Truck Operator
Preferred Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in business, logistics or related field.
Assignment-specific Position Summary

This position manages warehouse operations at the EarthScope Primary Instrument Center (EPIC) in New Mexico, balancing responsibilities across international shipping compliance, warehouse organization and space management, shipment processing, and inventory and property accountability. The Warehouse Manager I ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient operations of the facility, accurate documentation in coordination with EarthScope's inventory and compliance requirements, and effective processing of inbound and outbound shipments. This role also carries responsibility for training and knowledge sharing with Operations staff across multiple facilities to strengthen organizational capacity in logistics and trade compliance.

Assignment-specific Essential Duties:

Functional responsibilities:
  • Reports to and is supervised by the Engineering Manager III - IS Facilities Manager.
  • Prepares and reviews export/import documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and customs declarations.
  • Classifies goods under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and ensures correct identification of country of origin, valuation, and tariff codes.
  • Monitors and maintains compliance records for shipments and assists with audits, self-checks, and corrective actions.
  • Tracks regulatory changes (customs, EAR, ITAR, and related U.S. import/export laws) and coordinates with the EarthScope Compliance Team when applicable.
  • Coordinates with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal departments to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant shipments.
  • Provides training and shares compliance knowledge with Operations staff across EarthScope facilities.
  • Maintains OSHA compliance in warehouse operations through required safety supplies, regular inspections, and adherence to established safety protocols.
  • In collaboration with all EarthScope Warehouse Managers, develops, updates, and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse operations, shipment processing, and compliance activities.
  • Performs core warehouse duties, including receipt and preparation of shipments, coordination of packaging and staging, and tracking and confirmation of delivery for all inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Reports on changes in equipment status and supports disposition requests, as required by policy and OMB standards, for review by IS Facilities Operations Manager.
  • Develops data and reports, as requested by the IS Facilities Manager, related to government property.
  • Provides functional supervision to the EPIC Operations group Warehouse subunit.
  • Represents Warehouse subunit resource requirements and status to functional manager in support of monthly management resource allocations meetings.
    • Reports on workload balance for all direct reports.
  • Oversees subaward employees, including students.
  • Ensure that the team properly accounts for time between all supported programs.
  • Provides input to hiring managers and supports the resource hiring process - as appropriate to this functional group.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary for the successful operation of the business.
Programmatic responsibilities:
  • Manages Import/Export coordination for all EarthScope programs and projects in coordination with the EMIII - IS Facilities Manager.
  • Ensures property accountability and inventory updates in compliance with OMB and NSF requirements.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement of international trade compliance processes and documentation practices across IS facilities.
  • Coordinates programmatic responsibilities through appropriate program managers and assigned task leaders.
  • Participates in team-based review of Import/Export policy changes and ensures proposed changes are vetted through the EarthScope Compliance Officer prior to implementation.
  • Supports all Programs under the NGF.

  • Advance approval from your functional manager and the VP, Instrumentation is required for any physical relocation that changes your proximity to your assigned duty station.
