Operator- Water Treatment Plant at OceanaGold

The Water Treatment Plant Operator will:Ensure compliance with divisions policies and procedures standards of quality and safety and all applicable local state and federal laws and regulationsAttend all required training and acquires CEUs to maintain Physical/Chemical Wastewater Operator licenseAdhere to safety culture and follows procedures to ensure safe working environmentReport any safety hazards promptly that cannot be corrected or mitigated at individual levelAdjust biological chemical and/or physical processes to ensure plant is operating properlyTroubleshoot the plant when there are operational upsetsRun control system in accordance with supervisory guidelines to achieve discharge quality and volume requirementsAssist with or directly performs in field maintenance as needed on pumps/valving/equipmentPerform shift inspections and reports aberrations promptly to supervision if unable to correctPerform routine measurements and records results through spreadsheets and communicates via emailUse mobile equipment as necessary for transporting reagent totes/skidsPerform all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needsPhysical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand sit demonstrate manual dexterity climb stairs talk hear and see.Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night schedule.Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.Work is in a surface mine plant setting which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment including hart hat hearing protection safety glasses safety footwear and as needed respirator rubber steel-toe boots protective clothing gloves and any other protective equipment as required.Qualifications : Associate degree or the equivalent of two years of college with studies in hard science such as engineering chemistry geology biology mathematics or physics ORFour years in water/wastewater plant operations (or closely related field)Current physical/chemical license of C level or higher could accelerate considerationsAdditional Information : WHATS ON OFFER:Competitive salary short-term and long-term bonusComprehensive benefits package including health vision and dental insurance 401K and moreGreat residential location close to Charlotte SC and is located between the mountains and sea.Living Our Values recognition programPaid training available and professional developmentSupportive work environment with a focus on safety and teamworkAccess to OceanaGold Employee Assistance Program (EAP) YOU MATTER: OceanaGold is committed to providing equal employment opportunities.
