The selected candidate will be eligible to elect Medical Dental and Vision benefits accrue paid time off and receive 11 paid holidays.OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENTThe Water Warehouse group supports numerous functions across Aurora Water. This includes but is not limited to raw water conveyance water treatment functions stormwater infrastructure improvements and Wastewater functions. Within these functions the Water Warehouse Technician is responsible for parts procurement and delivery.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Prepares and processes requests for materials and suppliesMaintains computer inventory of parts and suppliesOrders materials and partsMonitors daily purchasing activities and expendituresMaintains recordsPerforms costing related to work orders containing parts and materialsFrequently drives and operates city vehicles and equipmentLocates and acquires equipment and suppliesPerforms physical inventoryquarterly inventory and monthly cycle countsResearches out of count conditionsCoordinates the acquisition and delivery/pick-up of parts to job sitesUnloads delivered materials and checks the accuracy of ordersMaintains clean stock areas both inside and outsidePerforms additional duties as requiredSpecial Order research and acquisitionMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONSAn equivalent combination of education training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge skills and abilities may be considered.Education:High School Diploma or GED.Experience:At least two (2) years progressively responsible experience in material and equipment procurement and maintenance with some experience utilizing a computer-based inventory and project tracking database systemExperience in a water utility environment is preferredAn equivalent combination of education training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge skills and abilities may be considered.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of utility materials and equipment; and purchasing and contract proceduresExperience with inventory software is preferredKnowledge:Experience in Microsoft OfficeSkills:Strong interpersonal skillsSkill in the use of windows-based programsStrong customer service skillsSkill in customer relationsSkill in checking information for accuracy and completeness and correcting errorsAbilities:Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees all levels of management including executive staff citizens and elected officialsHandle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacyCommunicate effectively both orally and in writingLicenses and Certifications Required:Colorado Drivers License with a good driving historyCertification in forklift operations and safety is required in first six monthsWORKING CONDITIONSMedium physical work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds with or without assistanceFrequently lifts and carries objects weighing up to 25 poundsRegular walking and standingSome pushing pulling and climbingHand/eye coordination for operation of calculator and computerHand/foot coordination for operation of equipment and vehiclesVision to read reports and related materialsSpeech and hearing to maintain communication with other employees and vendorsEssential Personnel:When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.Work Environment:Works primarily indoors but may work outdoors providing assistance to customers in varying weather conditionsEquipment Used:Uses standard office equipment including personal computer and common office software such as email internet Word and ExcelForklift operationsMultiple power toolsThis position may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle cell phone tools etc.) in the course of their employment.Operates some light equipment such as forklifts; operates pick-up truck for acquisition and delivery of materials; personal computer and related softwareFor Veterans preference: Please show all of your employment history including military service and related documentation (DD214) on the application.
