Construction Welder/Fabricator - Midland, MI

$18.00-23.00 per hour

Job Description

We are seeking skilled welders and fabricators to join our mechanical structural group. This role requires expertise in both field and shop welding, focusing on construction-related activities at various sites, including Dow plants. The position involves welding steel and structural materials, with the potential for outdoor work. Proficiency in MIG and stick welding and the ability to fabricate 3/8" support beams are essential.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture and fabricate finished metal products.
• Install piping after receiving training.
• Ensure materials are plumb, level, and square with proper bracketing.
• Read blueprints to meet product specifications.
• Calculate material measurements to verify specifications.
• Conduct tests to evaluate weld quality and tolerance.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to pass a weld test.
• Schooling and experience in welding and fabrication.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints.
• Strong safety-conscious mentality.
• Eagerness to learn the trade, even with only classroom experience.
• Welding instructor certifications.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a metal/fabrication shop and various field work locations, such as Aldi supermarkets builds, dispensary/commercial builds, and industrial and manufacturing facilities. The position offers a 1st shift schedule with start times at 6am or 7am, working 8-10 hour days depending on the project and worksite.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
