Welder/Fabricator at Aerotek
JOB DESCRIPTION
Welder
A welder is a skilled professional responsible for joining steel components using a variety of welding processes to ensure strong, precise, and high-quality welds. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the structural integrity of fabricated metal products and requires a strong commitment to safety, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Review work orders, blueprints, and weld requirements.
- Inspect materials and confirm steel types and weld procedures.
- Set up and adjust welding equipment for the day's tasks.
- Prepare and clean steel surfaces before welding.
- Perform welding using FCAW, SAW, GMAW, or other required processes.
- Check welds for defects and make corrections as needed.
- Communicate with fabricators, supervisors, and quality control.
Essential Skills
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
- Basic math skills for measuring, calculating, and verifying dimensions.
- Familiarity with weld inspection tools such as gauges, calipers, and measuring devices.
- Ability to work efficiently under deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
- Solid communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.

Work Environment
Industrial fabrication shop setting with active machinery and welding operations. The environment focuses on quality, safety, and efficiency. Expect frequent exposure to heat, sparks, noise, and metalworking equipment. Work in a team-oriented atmosphere with collaboration across fabrication and quality teams, and adhere to a structured safety culture with required PPE and established safety procedures.

This is a contract position based out of Olean, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
