Welder Fabricator at Staffpros
JOB DESCRIPTION
Welder / Fabricator - 1st Shift (Temp-to-Hire)
Pay: Starting at $25.00+ per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Full-time, 1st Shift (6:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.) 45 hours a week is consistant
Overtime: As needed, typically 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with occasional Saturdays (7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
About the Opportunity:
Our client, a well-established custom metal fabrication company, is seeking experienced Welder/Fabricators to join their first-shift team. This is a hands-on position that involves taking projects from blueprints to finished product. It's ideal for welders who enjoy variety, problem-solving, and craftsmanship - not repetitive production work.
This is a temp-to-hire opportunity offering long-term stability and strong earning potential. Once hired on directly, employees transition to a piece-rate pay system, where the majority of fabricators average between $25-$35+ per hour.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings to fabricate railings, frames, stairs, gates, and other custom metal components.
- Cut, punch, and drill materials to specifications.
- Perform MIG welding on steel materials such as tube, angle, and channel (16-gauge up to 1 2" thick).
- TIG welding experience with brass, aluminum, or stainless steel is a strong plus.
- Grind and finish materials to meet high-quality appearance standards.
- Use accurate measurements, perform math conversions, and read a tape measure to 1/16".
- Lift materials up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Maintain a consistent record of attendance and punctuality.
Qualifications:
- Strong math and measurement skills (including fractions, decimals, and basic algebra).
- Ability to read blueprints and visualize 3D parts from 2D drawings.
- Previous experience in custom fabrication, setup welding, or metalworking preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required for insurability).
- Must pass a drug screen prior to employment.
- Reliable and willing to learn - candidates who show good work habits and attendance have strong potential for hire after 90 days.
Why This Role Stands Out:
- Not a repetitive production welding job - every project is unique.
- Great opportunity to grow your skill set with an established metal fabrication team.
- Excellent long-term earning potential through piece-rate pay after hire.
- Stable 1st shift schedule with occasional overtime.
