New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.As part of a hardworking team of engineers you will tackle existing material problems for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the teams impact on all aspects of New Shepard. You will review production drawings for large complex assemblies develop processes select materials help implement a New Shepard Parts Materials and Processes Plan and define design requirements. We work closely with quality design structures thermal integration and manufacturing to optimize designs and processes. Your broad welding and metallic experience will be impactful to the team as we refine processes and engineering designs. We get to be involved in all materials and processes related to the New Shepard program! This means you will gain and share experiences across the organization. Passion for our mission and vision is required!Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Develop release and maintain welding process documentation.Support procurement activities to support vehicle build schedules.Support integrated test objectives data review and reporting.Participate in subsystem level testing including planning execution data reduction and analysis.Work with multi-functional teams across multiple work sites that include design analysis materials processes structures fluids systems procurement and manufacturing.Minimum Qualifications:B.S. degree or higher in mechanical structural or other relevant engineering field.5 years in professional engineering experience.Strong fundamentals in mechanics of materials.Experience with large primary or secondary structures.Experience with material selection compatibility and metallic manufacturing techniques & product forms (e.g. sheet metal machining etc).Familiarity with tolerance GD&T and design for manufacturability.Hands on experience with hardware on the production floor and/or in servicePreferred Qualifications:Experience with aluminum welding methods including friction stir welding and gas tungsten arc welding.Ability to work independently driving engineering from conceptual to released engineering and flight hardware.Experience designing for manufacturability and value engineering with focus on cost reduction and build time hour optimization.Familiarity with Microsoft Project or another equivalent schedule softwareFamiliarity with budget managementExperience in risk management and consolidation of technical data for presentation to senior leadership.Compensation Range for:WA applicants is $117498.00-$164497.20Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDont meet all desired requirements Studies have shown that some people are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single desired qualification.
