You will ensure compliance with quality requirements and ensure that manufactured or procured products meet specified standards before they progress to next phase of production or customer delivery.Major Duties and Responsibilities:NDE InspectorBecome certified and maintain certification at level IIIEstablish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware ensuring adherence to all safety and specification requirementsPerform inspections using appropriate equipmentInterpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawing or shop work order.Utilize various NDE methods for inspection including:Leak Testing (LT) e.g. helium pressure decay and bubbleLiquid Penetrant Testing (PT)Monitor NDE processes and drive continuous improvement activities while verifying all product specifications are met.Maintain NDE systems in compliance with industry requirements. Monitor performance and effectiveness of NDE systems.Create and approve NDE system documentation.Welding InspectorPerform internal and external inspections to determine if a weldment/structure meets the acceptance criteria of a specific code standard or documentRecommend and approve rework as well as perform visual inspection of work in progress and completed workMonitor welding /brazing processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) gas metal arc welding (GMAW) flux cored arc welding (FCAW) shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and torch brazing to ensure they are performed in accordance with qualified proceduresVerify and document welder qualificationsVerify the compliance of base metals with the applicable specificationsAppraise welding joint designs and joint preparations for compliance with drawingVerify proper fit-up cleanliness and environmental conditionsVerify preheat and interpass temperatures as requiredAssure the proper control and handling of welding consumablesVerify the interpass and final cleaningVerify cleanliness and weld surface qualityOversee weld NDT examinations proof and mechanical testing if requiredOversee repair activitiesVerify the proper performance of post-weld heat treatmentsConduct vendor surveillance audits of welding and inspection work as neededAdditional ResponsibilitiesInterpret and review engineering drawings as requiredInterpret codes and specifications in accordance with the drawing requirementsAssure product conformity to drawings and specificationsEvaluate inspection results to determine conformance to requirements.Complete final inspection reports and first article inspection reports.Confirm adequate documentation of fabrication and inspection activitiesOrganize and report test resultsDocument track and complete nonconformance reports.Interface/communicate with Engineers and/or Managers to describe inspection results.Conduct internal process audits to verify processes remain compliant to requirementsUnderstand basic statistical techniques sufficient for evaluation of measurement data trends.Train others on inspection techniques and tools when required.Keep machines and work area clean and organized.Practice safe working behaviors and adhere to safety policies guidelines and procedures.Other projects as assignedEDUCATION REQUIREMENTSHS Diploma or Equivalent. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSCurrent American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificationNondestructive Evaluation Level II certification in line with ASNT TC-1A guidance in the following methods: dye penetrant (PT) leak testing (LT).Documentation of training and experience in NDE methodsA minimum of three years experience in NDE processes quality or manufacturing Knowledge of welding codes standards and industry best practices.Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates.Ability to execute tasks assigned with minimum supervision.Requires great attention to detail and the ability to read mechanical drawings and specifications.Ability to write procedures and reportsGood communication skills with co-workers engineering and various support personnel.Strong computer software skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.Must possess or be able to obtain a DOE Q-level security clearance.Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management on quality issuesMust possess or be able to obtain a DOE Q-level security clearanceAbility to work in a diverse work environment.
