Job Information State of Tennessee Job InformationOpening Date/Time12/02/2025 12:00AM Central TimeClosing Date/Time12/22/2025 11:59PM Central TimeSalary (Monthly)$5,259.00 - $8,167.00Salary (Annually)$63,108.00 - $98,004.00Job TypeFull-TimeCity, State LocationMorristown, TNDepartmentWildlife ResourcesLOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: TENNESSEE WILDLIFE RESOURCES AGENCY, FISHERIES DIVISION, HAMBLEN COUNTYWorking Title: Streams Coldwater BiologistThis is an on-site position.Qualifications Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in wildlife or fisheries management, wildlife biology, or other related acceptable field.OROne year of full-time working experience as a Wildlife Officer with the State of Tennessee.Note: A transcript is required for a proper evaluation for this class.Necessary Special Qualifications: Applicants for this class may be required to:Be willing to and able to qualify with, carry, and use assigned weapons;Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age on the date of application;Be a citizen of the United States;Have a good moral character, as determined by investigation;Complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority;Agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointing authority;Supply a fingerprint sample in a manner prescribed by the TBI for a fingerprint based criminal history records check;Have no conviction for a felony or have been discharged under any other than honorable conditions from any branch of the United States armed forces;Pass a physical examination administered by a licensed physician that is consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act and that relates to the essential functions of the position;Pass a psychological evaluation administered by a licensed mental health professional that is consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act and that relates to the essential functions of the position;Have visual acuity of 20/100 in each eye, separately without glasses, and each eye corrected to 20/30 or better with corrective lenses;Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license at the time of appointment in some positions.Upon appointment, successfully complete a prescribed course of instruction at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Academy or have successfully completed the equivalent of the prescribed course.Overview Under general supervision, is responsible for professional wildlife management work of average difficulty in the implementation of wildlife management practices and wildlife population management in a moderate-sized wildlife area or facility; assists in planning, implementing, and providing guidance on general habitat improvement and species management while gaining expertise in a specialized area; performs other duties as required in the implementation of management practices in a large, complex wildlife area or facility as required. An employee in this class performs a variety of activities associated with the management of wildlife. Work involves wildlife habitat development and maintenance, public relations activities, facilities maintenance, wildlife law enforcement within assigned geographic area(s) and assisting in research data collection. This class differs from that of Wildlife Manager 2 in that an incumbent of the latter is responsible for a larger, more complex wildlife area or management responsibilities.Responsibilities 1. Assists and guides assigned subordinates in resolving problem situations. Supervises the activities of assigned workers on agency property.2. Leads in the maintenance and repair of agency equipment and buildings. Leads in the implementation of projects and management techniques to provide optimum fish production and fishing opportunities on designated state-owned properties. Manages field trials and hunts on wildlife management areas.3. Plans, conducts, and evaluates on-the-job training, to include training with equipment, policies, procedures, and techniques, for assigned subordinates as required.4. Promotes, teaches, and/or assists with hunting and boating safety education programs. Promotes or provides hunter or trapper safety training. Conducts public educational programs on forest care and conservation.5. Plans and conducts species occurrence surveys and population monitoring for rare species through various methods including hand capture, live trapping, visual observations, thermal cameras, etc. on private and public lands region wide.6. Coordinates plans and activities with federal personnel on jointly managed wildlife areas.Supervises activities of forestry workers.7. Assists landowners with problems on farm ponds and with nuisance wildlife.8.
