BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF GREATER DALLASPOSITION DESCRIPTIONPART-TIMETITLE: Youth Development Professional (YDP)PERFORMANCEPROFILE SOURCE: Part-TimeDEPARTMENT: ProgramREPORTS TO: PT Assistant Club DirectorExempt X Non-ExemptPOSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Youth Development Professional (YDP) is a part time hourly position working with our youth to provide hands on delivery of daily in-house programing including social recreation team building activities and an overall environment to build positive relationships.Monday-Friday 2:00pm-7:00pmPrimary FunctionUnder the supervision of the Assistant Club Director a YDP is responsible for assisting with the development and operation of our after-school program. Works to create a welcoming and safe environment for our members and aligns new members to program areas special events and opportunities. Will provide support in their assigned program area by monitoring members behavior providing instruction and engaging with members and parents.The YDP develops and delivers the BGCD and BGCA suite of programs ranging from the games room to teen activities arts and crafts the food program low organized games outdoor activities special events before school program summer program and group clubs.YDPs mustbe able to demonstrate the following:Passion for making a positive impact in childrens livesAbility to keep firm boundariesAccountability and follow throughAbility to multi-taskAbility to be a leader and gain and maintain the attention of childrenUse a creative perspective to work with children on making good life choicesKey Roles:The YDP is responsible for:Building meaningful relationships with membersThe delivery of specific program services within the ClubhouseCompliance with organizational operational and HR policiesThe overall Club climatesafety and security the moral compass guidanceTeach and enforce discipline values morals citizenship manners life skills and citizenshipProper reporting record keeping and reportsJanitorial maintenance of equipment and furnishingsAssisting the Program Director in all phases of the overall Club operationMembership administration and program registrationOther duties as assigned by the Club DirectorBuild positive relationships: BGC staff kids parents community stakeholders visitors volunteersKEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):Job Responsibilities Deliver age-appropriate programs and activities which reflect Boys & Girls Clubs five core program areas for children ages 6 18. Help ensure safe implementation of all programs and activities. This involves but is not limited to: condition of equipment and facilities age-appropriateness ability levels weather appropriate use of equipment and supplies Orients new members to program area special events and opportunities as well as club safety program and disciplinary rules. Implements monitors and evaluates programs services and activities for members. Ensures program area is attractive neat and clean and bulletin boards and notices are current. Assume other tasks assignments and responsibilities as needed or directed.Additional responsibilities Maintain a positive Boys & Girls Club culture with high energy strong teamwork and effective collaboration with other staff Promotes daily learning center program participation as well as participation in special events. Maintaining productive relationships with parents school faculty and administrators and staff and other visitors to the Club. Ensures a productive work environment by participating in club leader meetingsRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma GED is required18 years oldMust be able to pass a background check. Must be over 18 to work with youth over 21 to work with teens.Must have at least one year experience working with children.Combined experience and/or formal training equivalent to a minimum of 6 months where: There is experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development.Formal training and/or experience teaching youth while creating engaging learning experiences.Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.Ability to de-escalate problems when present as well as problem-solve during day-today-club activitiesAbility to plan and implement quality learning programs for youth.Ability to control and manage a group of children through different activitiesMandatory CPR and First Aid certifications (course will be available for staff upon being hired)Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience as Youth Development ProfessionalSKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:Ability to be flexible and to cope with a rapidly changing societyAbility to exercise considerable and sound judgment to coach members instructionally and sociallyProfessional leadership through communications and actionsAbility to have self-control and work with low supervisionCompetency in all club areasFriendliness enthusiasm energy and creativity for motivating youthValid State Drivers LicenseBasic computer skills; detail oriented; ability and willingness to multitask; great communications skill both written and verbalNote: The information presented indicates the general nature and level of work expected of employees in this classification.
