YOUTH EMPLOYMENT COACHYOUTH OPPORTUNITIES OFFICECITY OF WORCESTER The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for Youth Employment Coach for the Division of Youth Opportunities (DYO) within the Department of Health and Human Services. The Division of Youth Opportunities provides summer jobs for inner city youth between the ages of 15-24. The Youth Employment Coach will maintain a caseload of assigned youth as a part of the YouthWorks Grant, to provide them with daily supervision and support. This position will work collectively with Division of Youth Opportunities (DYO) Site Coordinators, Assistant Site Coordinators, and Youth Workers to ensure a positive working and learning experience at Recreation Worcester summer program sites.Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with Site Coordinators, Assistant Site Coordinators, and Youth Workers to ensure a successful experience for all Youth WorkersConduct Recreation Worcester orientation and facilitate work readiness trainings for youth staffWork with Site Coordinators and DYO staff to manage youth worker job and training attendanceManage documentation of Youth Worker incidents and address issues that arise, alongside Assistant Program Coordinator and Program CoordinatorConduct in-person site visits throughout the week to outdoor Recreation Worcester worksites and assist with problem solving in the event of conflict, escalate to Program Coordinator when appropriateCommunicate with Youth Workers weekly to ensure a successful job experience, including assisting through any work-based challengesAssist in monitoring and accurately maintaining weekly timesheets and distributing weekly payrollAssist Site Coordinators in implementing and completing the Work Based Learning Plans for all assigned Youth WorkersConduct reflection activities and end-of-program surveys to assist with program improvement and skill developmentParticipate in staff trainingMeet with DYO team to provide weekly status reports on the work sites and assigned Youth WorkersLead the collection and accurate entry of YouthWorks grant-specific data, ensuring timely and complete submissions of all required formsOther duties as assigned REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Proficient in Microsoft OfficeAbility to be detail orientedDemonstrated ability to supervise and/or lead staff and/or volunteers Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populationsAbility to be a team player and problem solverAbility to work with youth aged 15-25 from diverse backgroundsAbility to multitask in a busy, fast-moving environmentFamiliarity with Worcester communities and resourcesAbility to receive constructive feedback from supervisorAbility to travel daily to different Recreation Worcester sitesAbility to build relationships and networking skills with students, colleagues, and community membersRegular onsite attendance is requiredAbility to work with youth with special educational or emotional needs MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Associate's degree in Human Services or other related field; Or,High school Diploma or equivalent with one (1) year of related experienceStaff or volunteer supervision experienceOne (1) year of experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilitiesValid Driver's License and access to reliable transportationMust pass a criminal background check (CORI & SORI) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:One (1) year of experience facilitating out of school activities and programmingTwo (2) years of experience with staff or program participant supervisionTwo (2) years of administrative experienceWorcester ResidentBilingual candidate SALARY: $20.00 hourly, part-time, temporary, non-benefittedTo apply, please visit: www.worcesterma.gov/employment or send resume and cover letter to: City of Worcester, 455 Main Street, Room 109, Worcester, MA 01608.
