Our students are high functioning dealing with deficits in social skills, life skills, inability to understand their own emotions or put their emotions into words. We provide a safe and nurturing home like environment for our students to learn skills that push them in the areas mentioned above. Must have the ability to be flexible, patient and not take things personally. Great experience for those looking for a career working in psychology, social work, education/special education, or those who have a special interest in helping others. Experience preferred either working with youth or in working with those who have autism spectrum disorder but not necessary. Must be willing to help out on either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday as they become available.Great way to pick your own schedule week to week. Very flexible. We post the positions needed and you sign up for shifts as they come open.Once trained and familiar with the program flexible shifts could turn in to a set day(s) each week.Varies and is flexible based on your availabilityGreat for students who have a busy school scheduleShift are either 7AM to 3PM, or 3PM to 11PMSome needs may be short 4 hours shifts (this is all based on need and your schedule)Full Shifts (8 hours) Part-Time and On-Call positionQualifications and RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent is required21 years or older (to be able to drive company vehicles)Acceptable Driving RecordAbility to pass a criminal background check upon accepting an offerDutiesAttend shift meetings once a week.Drive company vehicles to transport students to and from appointments and activitiesAttend monthly company training (minimum requirement is at last one each quarter)Provide a safe and nurturing environment for clientsImplement therapeutic interventions for each clientProvide structure, implement rules, implement time management, help with ADLs, help clients process feelings/emotionsDependable, reliable, receive and carry out instruction, and genuinely care for othersWork in the classroom helping clients stay on task and move forward in assignmentsObserve and monitor behavior and have the ability to chart on those observations in a professional and subjective mannerSupport your shift and the supervisor of that shiftEnsure that the clients are keeping a clean home environmentTake seriously the training program and is eager to learn and grown in your position as a mentor.Have the ability to pay attention to details and be aware of what is going on around you at all timesBe aware of the Success program and how to implement it within the residential department while on shift with the clientsBe able to keep personal feelings and emotions from influencing decisions around clients treatmentBe receptive to constructive feedback and trainingKeep track of clients and know where they are at all timesMaintain current CPR and First Aid certificationsBecome trained and maintain current certification in Positive Control SystemsBasic computer skills necessary to navigate employee portal and complete electronic documentation on client careAll other duties as assignedAn ATTACHMENT ApproachMost youth residential treatment programs use a behavioral approach to therapeutic and residential support, but we set ourselves apart for our students by using anattachment-basedapproach. Everything we do is through the lens of attachment theory. As a member of the MLA team, you'll get great training in attachment styles, and how to best help teens in our program to build healthy relationships with themselves, their peers, and caregivers. Additionally, we focus on helping students identify the core issues behind their behaviors and thoughts, and then how to address those core needs.
