Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:Job Title: Youth Tumbling & Cheer CoachStatus: Department: Youth & FamilyReports to: Director of Youth & Family Services Revision Date: September 13, 2019POSITION SUMMARY:This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.Requirements:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:To teach Tumbling & Cheer to youth through effectively planned practices at a level appropriate for each participant in the program.To be aware of the differences in each child’s physical and emotional maturity, personality, backgrounds, and motivation.To provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all youth participating To communicate with the Youth Program Director, any questions or concerns.To serve as a positive role model to participants in the program Is committed to maintaining a workplace free from all forms of harassmentCommunicate good health and fitness principles and positive character development concepts to participants and parentsAdheres to policies related to boundaries with youth.Attends required abuse risk management training.Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth. Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements. LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:Developing Self & Others Inclusion Program/Project ManagementQUALIFICATIONS:Must be responsible and of good character.Must meet all Association-Wide training requirements in addition to those set forth by their supervisor.Must be able to pass a Nationwide Criminal and Sex Offender Registry Background Screening.Must ensure that the physical and social environments for program delivery reflect the Y’s definition of character and valuesMust have experience working with childrenMust have some background of tumbling & cheer WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Tumbling & Cheer coach to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
